The Purty Kitchen - Thursday 10th May 2007

Another great night in the brand new Purty Kitchen in Temple Bar! We had a few new faces in as well as our usual friends. One of the old hands in the Purty Kitchen was first up. Mark Walsh gave us a couple of great songs to get the ball rolling. He did Basket Case by Green Day and then, for the first time, Snow (Hey Ho) by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and as usual he was great and really got everyone involved. Next up, another young man. This time we had John, who did the 70's classic, Young Girl by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap Band and we rekon it was not his first time to do, 10/10 John! Our next singer flew in from Leicester in England! He was meant to represent England in the Eurovision, but decided to join us in the Purty Kitchen instead! Phil (left and 6ft 10" by the way!) was superb at Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice and we just knew we had to get another song from him later on in the night! Dr. Entertainment, James Hennessy was next up. He shocked EVERYONE with his first choice. He did Hard Rock Halaluajh, by last years Eurovision winners Lordi! For someone who I assume never sang it before, he did a great job, so good in fact, we got him to do a second song. This time, by request (by Stephen) he did Wonderboy by Tenacious D and that always goes down so well. Hopefully we will see him in Break soon! His buddy Shane was next to join us on stage. He did My Way, but the Sid Vicious version! As always, we had one or two shocked faces in the crowd!! Frank was forced up next, by us, and he did a song by The Boomtown Rats. Tell Me Why I Don't Like Mondays always goes down well, and nobody is better at it than Frank (well maybe Bob Geldof is, but he never comes in anymore!) He then did the Barry Manilow Classic, Copacobana and true to form, he was excellent at ths also! Sinead, our first female singer, joined us next. This "Fiesty Red Head" sang Like a Prayer by Madonna and she was good and got particulary excited when she was told she would be on this website! Shane and James were next up with a little bit of Beastie Boys. Fight for Your Right to Party got everyone jumping around and in the mood to keep the party going until late in the Purty Kitchen. Caroline(right) from Coolock joined Sinead on stage for a little Guns N Roses, this time Sweet Child of Mine was there choice, and it was that good I am sure they will be back to show off again soon! Our new friend from Leicester was back again to start to wrap things up for us! This time Phil did the Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince track, Boom Shake Shake Shake the Room! He did this one for his mate Shaun, who is getting married in August, so best of luck with that mate! Last but not least, Mark Walsh joined us once again, this time doing 7 Nation Army by The White Stripes and that got all in the mood for our DJ, who was ready to part in the beautiful, brand new, Purty Kitchen. Thanks for reading and thanks for singing. Don't forget, Karaoke Sing a Long, this and every Thursday from 9pm. Its just a bit of fun for your Thursday night! Over and out.
