Last night was our first night in the swanky new Bad Bobs, and let me tell you, it is absolutley stunning! It is now, in my opinion, one of the nicest pubs around. And to celebrate, the Karaoke moved back home (down stairs!). It always starts off, singer wise, slowly in bobs and last night was no different! But we did have the most sung song of all time up first, performed by Treasa, Anna, Helen and Michelle Geller, and it was of course Happy Birthday, sung especially for Eric. One of the regular regulars did a couple of tunes next. Mark Walsh did RHCP Under the Bridge and then, Bad Touch by The Sugar Hill Gang!! Our next singer made James very happy by coming from Drumcondra, he couldn't believe that there were two people from Drumcondra in the world!! Her name was Miriam Bridgeman, and she is a You're a Star veteran, trying out three times! She sang Don't Speak, by Gwen Steffani and her band No Doubt. Everyones favourite dancer, Elaine, was up next, much to Conor's delight! She sang the seductive Black Velvet before raising the tempo with the Irene Cara Karaoke Classic, Fame. Mr Entertainment himself, James Hennessy,(above right) was up next. He did my two favourite songs that he does, When the Sun Goes Down, by The Artic Monkeys, and the now very famous (made so by James) Wonderboy, by Jack Black and his band Tenacious D. Singer number three of the Brat Pack was next! Shane did the one that he does best, and makes the ladies blush, My Way from Sex Pistols, and it brougt the usual look of shock, confussion, fear and enjoyment to the faces of the people joining us for the first time! We were joined by Golfers last night! And not regular golfers, they were ladies from Essex (above left) playing Pub Golf! Four out of the six of them got up and gave us Wanabe by the Spice Girls, and it went down well with all the lads! Last of the Brat Pack, Peter Yates, who did some Rat Pack, Dean Martins Ain't that a Kick in the Head, and then got everyone up dancing, with the theme song from Footloose sung by Kenny Loggins, strangley enough, called Footloose! Maeve Lynch (is she not the comedian!), who does not tell lies, sang Big Spender by Miz Bassey, and just to say again, she does not tell lies!! Larrissa Duffy (careful how you say it!) had everyone bouncing up and down, for about 10 seconds, with the Clash, Should I stay or Should I go! Patrick Corbett thought it was still Valentines day, and slowed it down again with some Elvis, this time it was Always on my Mind. The biggest cheer of the night came from a band called The Group! They did the ultimate sing a long song, Always look on the Bright Side of Life. We had Michael from the band Busted in with us, and after some persuasion, he sang, live and exclusive to bobs, his new single, Runaround Sue, originally done by Dion. How do you follow that?? By getting Mercedes and Maria form Spain and Italy up next! They brought Regge to town with a little bit of Bon Marley, and Is this Love. We had almost ran out of time at this stage, so we called our final singer up, and he came all the way from Poland just to see the new Bad Bobs, and while he was here, he sang Bon Jovi and living on a prayer, which had the whole place rocking and in the mood for the DJ who partied until 2.30am! Thanks to all singers last night, and thanks for reading! Hopefully we will see you all next Thursday, Bad Bobs, 9.00pm. Over and out!
