Bad Bobs - Thursday 8th March 2007

Straight into the action very early in Bobs last night! It was a strange kind of night, busy and everyone in top form. First up we had Mark Walsh and he sang two songs for us. First off he did the Green Day song Basket Case and then he did Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, and, as he is every week, he was great! Second up was his buddy James Hennessy. He also did a new song, and that was Fall to Pieces by Razorlight, which went down really well, and then, for a second time, he did I Believe in a Thing Called love by the Darkness! People that haven't been in Bobs before didn't really know what was going on!! Top tunes though. Jonathan was next up on stage and he did the Oasis song Wonderwall (which will be an all time classic!) and again, he was superb. Next up is the maddest singer around! Doing My Way from the Sex Pistols was Shane (below) and everyone, especially the people from Yorkshire in England enjoyed that one! Temple Bar's favourite busker, Paul from Canada, was next to entertain you all. He did a song from The Offspring called The Kids Aren't Alright (which i don't think i have ever heard before!) and then the RHCP hit, Snow (hey ho) and if he was busking with that tune, would have cleaned up! Next up was another Paul, and this is no lie, he was from Canada too! He sang the Dean Martin Swing Classic Ain't That a Kick in the Head, although he thought it came from Frank Sinatra! Our next singer travelled a long way to sing for us! Dave, from Francis Street, only around the corner really, sang one of my favourites and that is Piano Man from Billy Joel. Gordon from Scotland sang next and he also did a song you don't hear at Karaoke very often, and that is Buck Rodgers by Feeder, and he was very very good at it. Daniel, all the way from Australia, sang next. He did Desire by U2 (and Bono was just outside the window, and thats not a lie either!) and then Sweet Child of Mine by Guns N Roses. I have to thank Daniel for Flying in from Australia every week to sing for us. Thanks Dan! Our next singer was the 10th singer of the night! Why is that relevant?? Because she was the first lady to sing in Bobs last night. Her name is Lillian and she works in The Central Bank (there were loads of them!!!) and she sang You're So Vain by Carly Simon, and that was especially for the office flamer, who has a crush on Aileen! Our next singer rang his Mammy when he was singing so she could hear him, ahhh! I bet she wishes he didn't!! He comes from Limerick and did the Supergrass song, Alright, and he was quite good although he didn't think his performance was up to his usual standards! We had the Hoff in last night! Well, Corks version of the Hoff! His name is John and he did a really cool song, cause he is cool, and that was Parklife by Blur. Peter Yates (below left) was up next and he also did two songs. The Barenaked Ladies One Week was his first choice and then he got everyone dancing and swinging their legs to Footloose by Kenny Loggins! Michael from the Boy Band McFly was up next and he did a song from his mates band! U2 When Love Comes to Town was his choice and a top job he did too! Our old mate Frank was back in Bobs again! He did I Don't Like Monday's by The Boomtown Rats and was as good as ever, like he hadn't been away! Sorry about the bit I messed up in the middle Frank!! Jenny, wearing next to nothing, was our second girl on stage!! She sang the Cramberries song Zombie, and it was great to hear her voice again! James and Peter finished the night off for us with the Blues Brother Everybody Needs Somebody, and that got everyone in the mood for John, our DJ, who brought everyone through till the small hours of the morning! Thanks for reading and thanks for singing! Don't forget, Karaoke, Bad Bobs, next Thursday and every Thursday, from now, and until the end of time! Over and out.
